Take Part:  RCT's Panto - Jack and the Beanstalk

A much loved part of the RCT calendar where the kids perform like superstars and the adults gleefully ignore the script! Warm up your boos and cheers... it’s panto time again!

The kingdom is in trouble! Giant Blunderbore and his partner in crime, the evil witch, Poison Ivy are blackmailing the royal family, forcing them to pay protection money or else the Giant will gobble them up!  Can Jack and his motley gang save the kingdom from destruction and beat the beastly Giant and the wicked Witch? Maybe... if they can remember their lines.

Featuring well known songs (mainly harvested from Pamela's knowledge of 80s music) and non-stop jokes and slapstick, RCT's panto is a great introduction to this theatre tradition.

The cast is currently full. Please add your child to the waiting list by clicking on this message.

New to Shows at Rubber Chicken Theatre?

Rehearsals are a vital part of performing and our experience shows when kids miss rehearsals it can be really detrimental to their confidence. As such, we would expect that barring illness or exceptional circumstances all cast are at all rehearsals. We'd ask that parent's consider both their child's and family's plans during the rehearsal period before deciding whether their child can commit.

About RCT's Panto

Rehearsing once a week (Sunday afternoons) throughout the autumn, performers will take part in a weel-long run of shows this December.  Registration is open to all those in P1 - S6, and theres no requirement to have preformed with RCT Before.  Auditions are not required for roles in our ensemble.

Performers will be split across two casts (with parents / carers able to express a cast preference at the time of registration); each cast taking part in four performances (although they will rehearse together). Some older cast members may be asked to take part in all performances, depending on casting. Performers take part alongside our adults who fill key principal roles (and who are generally the cause of the chaos).

By registering, all performers are automatically included in the ensemble: panto always features plenty of stage time for the ensemble and for most, it is the best way to get involved in as many parts of the show as possible. Auditions take place for any principal roles considered suitable and for minor speaking / singing roles. As always, no one has to audition but anyone can if they want to. Audition information including which parts are available will be given out at the first rehearsal. More information about our audition process can be found here.

Important! A note from Pamela about the venue...

As many of you know, Dunblane Christian Fellowship (DCF) have decided that they won’t be able to host our shows beyond the end of this year and we've been working hard behind the scenes planning a way forward.

We’re in early talks about a very exciting new (and permanent!) home for RCT — and there's a chance that panto might just be our first show there. However, with nothing signed yet, we're not quite in the position to announce anything more. Rest assured though, it won't be too far away.

DCF will remain our fallback option for panto and it's almost certain that the first few rehearsals will take place there.

With all of this in mind, we've opened registration a bit earlier than usual, just so we have an early clear picture of numbers and who is participating and how moving venues might affect the cast.

As soon as we have more information, we'll let you know.

Fee to take part

The fee for taking part in panto is £140 per person which includes:

Full time supervised training in music, dance and performance during the times above alongside our professional production team.

Opportunity to audition (if your child wants to) for principal roles.

Participation in performances with full production lighting, sound, costumes etc. on stage.

Personalised 'Jack and the Beanstalk" t-shirt.

Certificate of participation and full photo pack containing individual professional promo photo, digital copies of all rehearsal and on stage production shots.

How To Pay

There are three different ways to pay:

  • In full at registration - we accept all major credit / debit cards.
  • Over 3 -6 monthly instalments - select the option at checkout (first payment is due at registration).
  • Pay nothing now,  use the code RCTDEFER24 at checkout, and get in touch to arrange payment.

Cancellations and Refunds:  If you need to withdraw your child from the show for any reason, fees for RCT's Panto can be refunded in full before the 17th August. After this point 50% of fees can be refunded until the 30th August.  After this we will have incurred significant costs relating their space, and won't be able to offer the space to another child, so the fee will not be refundable. If you have chosen to pay in instalments or deferred payment, any outstanding balance will become due at cancellation.

Theatre for all:  We strongly believe that cost should not be a barrier to participation and will always, where requested, offer fee reductions, or fully funded places.  If you would like to speak to us about cost, please use the code RCTDEFER24 at checkout. This will allow you to register your child now and then we'll get in touch to see how we can help.

As always, if you have any questions, just shout!
